Take Home Kit samples

Thank you for your purchase! I hope you enjoy making your kit. It's as simple as painting and glueing together; get creative, you don't have to paint your project just like the sample. Have fun!

LIQUID GLASS PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

  • Your laser cut design consists of a frame with pieces inside. Think of it like a puzzle. The “puzzle pieces” fit into the frame once the frame is glued to your back board.
  • Remove all pieces from the box, be gentle, the laser cut wood design can be fragile. If the outline does break, don’t worry; it’ll all glue together just make sure the alignment is correct when you glue.
  • Once the frame is removed (for some designs this has already been done for you) you have the “puzzle pieces” left, typically these will be placed on painters tape so you know where they go. VERY IMPORTANT: make sure when you are painting your pieces, you are painting the correct side. The correct size will have a nice smooth “burn” line to it, the back will be more charred and sporadic. If you paint the wrong side, the pieces will not fit in the frame.
  • Painting:
    • Paint your frame all one color. Think of it as an outline to contrast against your back board piece. Paint or stain your back board piece. If staining, use the yellow sponge supplied with the kit.
    • Paint your “puzzle pieces” as you see fit! If you don’t like the colors supplied you can use paint markers, acrylic paint, etc.
  • Assembling Your Project
    • Place the laser cut frame onto your back board to decide where you want to glue it.
    • Quickly paint the glue on the back of the frame using the paint brush. The glue is really great glue, and it dries fast. You do not want a lot of glue, just a light covering. The glue dries clear so don’t worry.
    • Place the frame, glued side down, on the back board.
    • You can now start assembling your “puzzle pieces”. Brush the back of each piece with a light layer of glue then place the piece where it belongs in the frame.
    • Once your project is assembled you are ready to apply the liquid glass.
    • ONCE YOU BEGIN APPLYING THE LIQUID GLASS, YOU MUST KEEP YOUR PROJECT FLAT FOR 24 HOURS!
    • Gently and consistently squeezing the bottle, apply the liquid glass (its like flooding a cookie with icing) to the “puzzle pieces”, not the frame. The liquid glass needs a boarder, if you applied it to the frame, it would run off.
    • I like to outline the edges with the liquid glass then fill in the center, making sure to push the liquid glass all the way to the edge with the tip of the bottle. If the liquid glass is moving itself, you are using too much. If the liquid glass is “dimply” then you need to add more. YOU MUST WORK PIECE BY PIECE. AFTER APPROX 10 MINUTES IT STARTS TO GET TACKY AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO OVER IT AGAIN.
