FROM SCRAPS TO STUNNING!

Join us and learn how to create a beautiful and unique piece of art in the style of Kinusaiga!  Kinusaiga (roughly translated as "silk picture") is a traditional Japanese craft that creates detailed mosaic-like pictures from fabric scraps.

It's quilting without thread where you transfer a design onto a backing, carve slits along the pattern, and carefully tuck the edges of colorful fabrics into the grooves!

Come paint with fabric! We will help guide you through the process from start to finish. All supplies are included to make your fabric art piece. Design range from approximately 6x6-8x8 depending on the design. 

We will have some assorted fabrics to select from but if you have SPECIFIC fabrics you would like to use, please bring them with you!

How it works:

2. Pick the date you’d like to come in. 

3. Agree to our terms & Confirm your Order.

 *Simple substitutions of words within the shown design and layout can generally be made at no additional charge. However, significant changes to our standard designs or special requests for a new design are considered custom and must be pre-approved and submitted at least 7 days prior to your event. If approved, a customization fee of $25 will apply. 

Please note: 

  • Once your order is placed you can not change the project or design choices you made.
  • All sales are FINAL! NO REFUNDS will be issued due to the planning and supplies involved in the event.
  • All wood is different and may have knots in it.
  • If you can not attend the event, you will have the option of receiving your project as a take-home kit or have the project completed for you ($10 additional charge).

How to Register

  1. Choose your project and design options from the drop down menu.
  2. If applicable include any relevant personal information needed to complete your stencil such as name or date.
  3. Confirm and Agree to our policies and terms.
  4. Add to Cart and checkout.

Cancellation Policy

Once your order has been submitted we are immediately beginning the process of production of your personalized stencil and therefore refunds will not be issued. In the event you are not able to attend your event, you have the option of coming in during an open paint day to complete your project, we can pack up all supplies for you to complete your project at home or we can complete it for you for an additional charge.

Hammer & Stain reserves the right to make any amendments to this policy at any time. Notification of any changes will be published on this page. If you have any inquiries regarding cancellations or any of our other policies please contact us.

Guest Policy

Unless otherwise specified in the workshop description, unregistered
guests are not permitted to attend any workshop, whether it is a public
workshop or private party. Bringing an unregistered guest will result in the guest being asked to leave as this interferes with the attention and experience of our registered makers. Makers can inquire about purchasing a guest seat but the request will be subject to
approval.


By completing registration you are agreeing to these terms.

Wood

This is a natural wood workshop, so your sign will have random cracks,
chips, knots and other natural blemishes that give it character! Some peeling may occur. We will do our very best to minimize disturbances to the words and make everything look intentional, but due to the nature of the workshop we can make no guarantees. Please keep in mind, no sign is absolutely perfect, as it is hand crafted, but it will certainly be wall worthy!
